Still from Cross River State, the FBN Capital Limited has announced the successful conclusion of the series 1 bond issuance offer for the Cross River State government under its N40bn bond issuance program.
The 7 year tenured bonds with maturity due in 2022 were issued via a book building process by FBN Capital Limited, following its appointment as the Lead Issuing House by the State government in May 2015.
The State in line with its mandate to develop infrastructure, had embarked on several projects including road, water and health facilities which were financed through bank loans. Thr proceeds from the issue were therefore earmarked for refinancing the state’s outstanding obligation to the lending banks.
CROSS RIVER: WIDOWS COMMEND GOVERNOR AYADE OVER PROPOSED MASS EMPLOYMENT
The plan by the Gov. Ben Ayade lead administration in Cross River state to offer mass employment to widows in the state has received a boost.
A cross section of the widows made the commendation in Calabar, the State Capital, in a separate interviews with Newsmen.
The present administration has concluded plans to inaugurate the factory to mark the governor’s 100 days in office. The widows who applied for the job, said that the establishment of the garment factory would bring succor to widows in the state.
They also added that this was the first time the state government had a meaningful intervention on widows plight in the state.
The Chief Press Secretary to the governor, Christian Ita, said the state had taken delivery of some equipment for the factory where widows would constitute 85 percent of the workforce.
He added that the government has concluded plans to inaugurate the factory to mark Gov. Ben Ayade’s 100 days in office.

LAGOS PENSIONERS GET N 2.27bn
Reports from Lagos indicate that the Akinwumi Ambode’s Administration had given Retirement Benefit Bond Certificates worth N 2.27bn to 658 retirees in the State as part of efforts to ensure comfortable future for them.
In a statement from the Lagos State Pension Commission yesterday, said the Governor of the state Akinwumi Ambode, who was represented by his deputy, Idiat Adebule, made the presentation to the retirees.

Former National Security Adviser to former President Goodluck Jonathan, Rtd. Col. Sambo Dasuki will tomorrow Tuesday be arraigned before a Federal High Court in Abuja for alledgely being in possession of firearms without license.
It will be recalled that the Department of State Security Service had in a statement by one of its officers, Tony Opuiyo, on August 24, 2015, stated that it had charged the former NSA with the alledged offence.
The DSS had claimed that it searched Dasuki’s homes “based on credible intelligence linking the immediate past NSA with alledged plans to commit treasonable felony against the Nigerian state”.
NORTH WEST: KANO STATE GOVERNOR FROWNS AT CORRUPTION AMONG CIVIL SERVANTS
Abdullahi Umar Ganduje of Kano State may not be favourable to corrupt Civil Servants in the state any longer following his signing of the servicom and service Compact agreement in the state.
He warned that the signing of the agreement, Kano and indeed the government and the entire Civil Srevants have become “born again”. He said it will no longer be business as usual because any officer found violating the civil servants processes will have himself/herself to blame. The governor said a situation where a civil servant assigned to carry out a job will demand for outright bribe will no longer be tolerated.

SOUTH WEST: ONDO ALARM
The Ondo State government has raised alarm over what it described as “concluded plan by enemies of the state” , to embark on character assassination, outright falsewood and massive propaganda to undermine the government of the state.
State Commissioner for Information, Kayode Akinmade, in a statement issued in Akure yesterday, said government had uncovered the planned attack which had been scripted to begin with series of petitions to be written against Mimiko and the state government.
Akinmade mentioned that following several failed attempts by adversaries to indict the governor through petitions written against him to the EFCC, a meeting was held in Abuja in the house of a prominient Ondo politician recently where a lawyer was assigned to write frivolous petitions against the governor using framed-up allegations, especially as it concerned the State’s Oil Producing Area Development Commission (OSOPADEC).
The Commissioner urged Nigerians and the people of the state to disregard any attempt by anybody or group of sponsored lawyers to smear the governor’s hard-earned reputation.
